When setting up and starting your site, here are the important details
to focus on in regards to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
Just a few changes can make a huge difference to your
Websites visibility.

I have just been told about and discovered that the default setting in WP 2.8.4 made
another of my blogs invisible to the search engines.

Apparently the blog’s privacy mode is set to “I would like to
block search engines, but allow normal visitors” by default. This
will disable the pinglist update box.

This means that no pinging will happen whenever a new entry is
posted and this is important for SE indexing purpose.

But this can be easily correct. Just go to Settings, Privacy and
choose the correct option for your blog.

If you intend to install new blogs using WordPress 2.8.4
(including using the Fantastico tool in CPanel), make sure you
reset the privacy to the first option.
Go into your blog settings now and check
