The Bloggers Most Overlooked Blogging Tool!

February 7th, 2010 ritzy No comments

======================================================

I heard the Australian Author Clive James say “He turns a phrase to catch the shine on it”.

What is it about words and the way we use them that makes such a dramatic difference to the way in which they are perceived? With new modern scientific advancement in technology, new frontiers are daily opening up our understanding of our mind and the way we live within our world.

What’s this to do with blogging? Well…

Scientists are now discovering what writers have known all along; words are not only understood but also felt! Our understanding and perception of words is influenced by our past and present experiences.

For example if I said “flushed”; what’s your immediate thought that comes to mind?

Would it be a picture of some horrid thing getting flushed away down the drain?

That experience of your last embarrassing or awkward moment?

Some juvenile emotion when meeting your teenage heart throb idol?

Could it be that intimate expression with your loved one or the idea of some heat flush caused by menopause?

You see your interpretation could be different for each stage of experience from your life.

The words we use make word pictures. We feel words and certain words form pictures in our minds.

I love the word “crisp” for instance, the crunch of fresh lettuce. A still winter’s morning, with snow hanging on the trees while breathing dragons breathe with each new exhale. Crunching on my favourite potato chip.  For you “crisp could mean something more?

Blogging is all about conveying thoughts, dreams, desires, experiences and ideas through the words we choose to best describe them. So the bottom line as a blogger; you need to identify who your prospect reader is and tailor your blog post to speak to them at their level.

How To Build and “OWN” Your Own Blog Website…

March 26th, 2009 ritzy 1 comment

You have decided you want to “own” your own blog website for various reasons. The good news is it’s a very simple exercise and takes either one of two routes depending on the type of blog you want.

1. For a personal blog where you want to simply sit at your key board and write a burp to what’s on your mind. This takes nothing more than going to:  http://www.blogger.com  to sign up for a new account, then follow their instructions and away you go.

2. For the more serious blogger who is interested in promoting them selves or their business the second route is recommended that will take time, effort and a little expense in buying a domain name, finding a web-host with a WordPress account (Recommended For Blogging) and setting up this way. To do it properly you have 3 options;

A. Decide to get a professional to set one up for you. The easy but expensive way as you will always depend on outside sources for further help as you will know little of the workings behind the scenes.

B. Learn the ropes using all the free material on the Internet, such as http://www.youtube.com training videos to progress using a trail and error strategy. This is the cheapest method but most time consuming as you step through a mine field of the unexpected.

C. Learn through video to be taken by the hand in a step by step process, showing you the recommended resources, what to do and how to use them for the best blogging results. Putting a blog up is only half of the equation, the other half is setting it up to get visitors to know and come visit, called “traffic building“.

To help you set up your own website and autoresponder mailing list system, a membership site I recommend is the one that helped me set mine up. Your first months membership cost I think is $1. Try it out and see how easy it is to follow step by simple step video instruction. If you do not like what you see- cancel your subscription.

Amateur Blog. Things to consider when starting as a Newbie blogger .

December 10th, 2008 ritzy No comments

We all have to start from some where. The decisions we make at the start as a newbie may have a huge influence on the final out come.

For most of us getting our toe into the water is the easy part. Making the decision to dive in and swim is another. We could be afraid because we do not know how to swim or may feel that the water is too crowded?
If you want to learn to swim, getting in the shallow end would be best to gain confidence. A few people once in the water decide that this is not for them and never swim again, others just love it and have great fun enjoying the experience. A swimmer may find a certain style that they are good at, they focus on that discipline to go on to be Olympic super stars and win gold. No one for sure knows how it will all pan out, surffice to say all the champions  work and train very hard perfecting and honing their skills. They need persistence, dedication, determination and resolve to do well.

For the blogger signing up to Google Blogger for a free Blogger.com or a WordPress.com blog would be an easy learning to swim way of starting. The instructions are very simple to follow and in no time you could be on your way blogging. This is where you learn by trying different styles to see what suits you best. Remember the true saying “Incorrect action is better than no action to find your style”.
To become a blogging super star though, this is not the pool to be swimming in, so do not stay too long here.

These “newbie” free sites are definitely the easy way to learn but do have many draw backs for the long term blogger.
1. The site does not belong to you so would be difficult to sell at a later stage.
2. You have little control and if the site closed down, all the hard work put into your blog could be lost.
3. It takes time to build your blog name, to make it something special but it will still look amateurish.
4. Your hosts may want to put advertising on your site and capitalise on your hard work.

In the long run and if you want to be a serious blogger the best advice would be to decide on your blogging topic, think carefully about a short catchy domain name and register it for your self.

1. This name becomes your personal possession.
2. You will have complete control over everything from choosing your web host, developing the site, adding advertising and content, right through to selling it if you want. Just look what the name Google means today.
3. Having your own domain name will also give a feel of professionalism to your blog.

To help you set up your own blog, a membership site I recommend is the one that helped me get this one going. Your first months membership cost I think is $1. Try it out and see how easy it is to follow from step by simple step video instruction. If you do not like what you see- cancel your subscription.

If you are any thing like my there is so much to learn you will get stuck in to never look back at your amateur blog status. Newbie List Building Club.
